The Beginning

It was August 9th, 2008, and I found myself on stage at Allegheny College accompanied by 6 other contestants, where we were all anxious to know which one of us would be crowned the new Miss Meadville Area Outstanding Teen. As awards were given out, the suspension grew and grew, then it was finally time. Melissa Grinnell the M.C. for the evening spoke the words that everyone was waiting for "And now if the judges have made their decision,can I have the envelope please". I can't remember a time where I was ever so nervous in my life, nor was I ready for what was about to happen. As my heart started to race, I heard "And your new Miss Meadville Area Outstanding Teen for 2008 is.....Contestant number 6 Miss Marissa Dawn Robison". It was like the air had been knocked out of me for a couple seconds because it was hard for me to breathe. My good friend and also the outgoing MMAOT Anne Grill, crowned me as we both cried. With the crown on my head I took my first official walk before my community. However, there was one more thing that made the night a little more special. Earlier that night, after the talent competition the little and junior miss queens were crowned. The winner of the Lil' Miss just so happened to be my little sister. I also got the opportunity to share a walk with Jr. Miss Lynnea Lombardi and also my little sister Miquel. I look forward to the time I will get to spend with these young ladies. As I prepare to set out on my reign throughout the community I will always make sure to encourage people to S.M.I.L.E. everywhere I go.
